I use ubuntu 9.10 as my main OS but can test on any linux distro you want. Hi, Send me an email (or use the contact form), and I will send you a download for the beta.

Linux m1 2.6.31-19-generic #56-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jan 28 01:26:53 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
(gdb) run Starting program: heuntold-linux-demo-alpha-2.2-rc2-15-ge785dcf/hacker-evolution [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x001fbb57 in memset () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6
(gdb) backtrace #0 0x001fbb57 in memset () from /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 #1 0x080b4ea8 in heGameWindow::clear() () #2 0x080b51b8 in heGameWindow::heGameWindow() () #3 0x080a57b2 in __static_initialization_and_destruction_0 () #4 0x081c29f8 in ?? ------ It seems to me 1st run = seg fault, 2nd run works.
if you build the binary with debugging symbols that would be helpful.

Thanks for the feedback. We will look into this and attempt to fix it.

Small update.
Originally it *seemed* to be 1 seg fault then then it would run but I have had 3 attempts where it was the >10th seg fault before it ran.
Obviously I cant see the source but do you call heGameWindow::clear() () more than once from heGameWindow::heGameWindow() () ? If so it seems to be one of the later calls causing the crash though I may be mistaken (I have no real experience with gdb without having the src code to hand)
----
Just a thought but assuming you will release the src code for this as you have done for the other versions (unless there are licencing reasons you can't). So you could release the beta code to those with the dev editions and I am sure some of us would be willing to help track down the bugs, if not fix them.

The linux port is not being done by me. Steven Noonan is working on it. I will talk with him after the port is completed, about releasing the Linux and Mac sourcecodes.

cool, can you ask him to leave the debugging symbols in the binary please? It would help me give better bug reports.

If you can get either the current binary or a more recent one with the debug symbols still embedded then I can retry it on my system and see if I can narrow down the seg fault further for him.
