Hello everyone,

We are almost done with the Mac port for Hacker Evolution: Untold
You may now download and try the demo on your Mac, from:

HackerEvolutionUntold-Demo.dmg

Manual: HackerEvolutionUntold-Manual.zip

Note: This demo is still in beta stage, so if you spot any bugs, I would appreciate some feedback.

Enjoy!

Will this be free to owners, upgrade, or another purchase?

Hi,

The (Mac + Linux) version will be available as a separate package when they are available.
This is due to the fact that the Mac and Linux port where done by a different developer (Steven Noonan) who will receive royalties for his work. Since there was no way for me to tell what platform will a user be choosing when purchasing a package consisting of all 3, and pay him the royalties accordingly, we found this to be the best option.

However, we have yet made a final decision on this, but here are a few of the options that I have thought of, to keep everyone happy. This things are pretty much sure:

1.) For those that own the PC version of Untold, and want the Mac+Linux builds, we (exosyphen studios) will forfeit out 50% royalty that is our from the Mac+Linux builds, making sure that the 2 ports together won't cost more than $12.48

2.) If the case will be 1.) the user will have the option to receive a free copy of the original Hacker Evolution game, to cover his expense (the royalty for Steven Noonan).

3.) I will speak to Steven to see if we can make some kind of deal for existing PC customers.

Most important, as many of you know, we would like to hear any oppinions/thoughts/suggestions on this, to try and work something out to please everyone (existing customers and Steven). Please keep in mind that as far as we (exosyphen studios) are concerned, we will forfeit our royalty share for existing customers, to lower the price by 50%.

When the ports are ready, there will be 2 packages:
PC : Standard price of $24.95
Mac + Linux : $24.95

Cross discounts will be available.

We don't really have an interest in making a profit from the Mac + Linux version. Just enough to pay Steven 50% royalties.

The GAOTD version doesn't count for anything.

It's exactly what it was ... something offered completely free. You could download it, play it but without any further attachements (updates, membership account, etc). This was mentioned on the GAOTD site.

If you were reffering to the fact that you don't need a free version because you already have one from GAOTD, then you can choose any other product from our offering.

Okay, now I'm curious. What has the port been written in? Since it's Linux/OS X, I would guess not Obj-C/Cocoa, more like C/C++ on top of some choice API, but I might be wrong. Care to give some of that info?

The Mac port was done in C++
I think the same will apply to the Linux port.

I will invite Steven to sign up here and answer these questions :)
